Meet Lindsey Nielsen, PMHNP

Hello, I’m Lindsey. Nice to meet you.

I believe mental health care is most meaningful when it is built with you, not simply prescribed to you. My approach is collaborative and individualized, with the goal of partnering with each client to create a treatment plan that reflects their unique experiences, values, needs, and goals.

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide medication management, supportive therapy, integrative, and lifestyle recommendations with a focus on whole-person health and well-being. I believe mental health exists within the larger context of our lives, including sleep, relationships, physical health, stress, lifestyle, and the transitions we experience throughout life.

I have a particular interest in working with women in midlife, including the mental and emotional changes that can accompany perimenopause, menopause, and other life transitions. I value creating space to explore the many factors that may contribute to how you are feeling rather than viewing symptoms in isolation.

I work with adults and older adults across a range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions. When medication is part of your care, I take a thoughtful and intentional approach—considering both the potential benefits and risks and seeking to use the simplest, most effective treatment approach. When clinically appropriate, I also believe in periodically reassessing the need for medications and considering thoughtful reduction or de-prescribing.

Most importantly, I see you as an active participant in your care. You know your life best. My role is to bring clinical expertise, listen deeply, offer options, and walk alongside you as we find an approach that supports your well-being.

I will primarily be available virtually, with intermittent in-office appointments to be available quarterly or more.

Lindsey is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and co-founder of Inner Grove Wellness. She brings over two decades of healthcare experience to her work, with a strong clinical advanced practice nursing background caring for adults and older adults across a broad range of mental health needs. Her past experience in medical settings has given her a particular appreciation for the ways physical and mental health influence one another and the importance of looking beyond symptoms alone when considering a person’s overall well-being.

Lindsey earned her Master of Science in Nursing and post-master’s degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has completed an integrative psychiatry fellowship and is pursuing national certification through The Menopause Society. Her ongoing education reflects her interest in the intersection of psychiatry, physical health, and the unique health considerations that arise throughout different stages of life.

Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions, with a particular interest in women’s mental health during midlife. She is especially interested in the emotional, cognitive, and physical changes that may occur during perimenopause and menopause, as well as the ways these transitions can intersect with mental health.

Lindsey incorporates medication management, supportive therapy, and integrative and lifestyle-based approaches into her work. She takes a thoughtful approach to medication treatment, considering the individual’s circumstances, preferences, and clinical needs while remaining attentive to both benefits and potential risks. She also values helping clients identify personal strengths and practical strategies that can support their mental health beyond the clinical setting.

Known for being a thoughtful listener, Lindsey strives to understand the broader picture of each person’s life and what may be contributing to their current concerns. She brings curiosity, clinical experience, and a genuine interest in helping people move toward greater health and well-being.

As a co-founder of Inner Grove Wellness, Lindsey is committed to building a practice that reflects her belief in comprehensive, compassionate care and in the value of bringing different perspectives and areas of expertise together in collaboration to support the whole person.
