Meet Ruthie Torres, LMFT

Hi, I’m Ruthie.

I believe therapy begins with connection. Having a space where you feel comfortable being honest, asking difficult questions, and talking about the things you may not feel comfortable sharing anywhere else can be an important part of creating meaningful change.

My approach is compassionate, genuine, and straightforward. I’ll meet you where you are while also encouraging you to look deeper, recognize patterns, and explore what may be getting in the way of where you want to be. Therapy isn’t about me telling you what to do. It’s about working together to help you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, develop new skills, and feel more confident in the choices you make.

I also believe that growth doesn’t always happen in a straight line. There may be times when our work is challenging, times when we celebrate progress, and times when you simply need a safe place to process what life has handed you. All of those moments have a place in therapy.

As a co-founder of Inner Grove Wellness, I’m fortunate to work alongside a group of women who value healthy, supportive relationships and genuinely believe in lifting one another up. We’ve created that same spirit of connection and support for the people who come through our doors.

Wherever you are when you begin, we’ll start there. My hope is that through our work together, you’ll come to understand yourself more deeply, trust yourself more fully, and feel better equipped to create the life you want to live.

Ruthie Torres is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and co-founder of Inner Grove Wellness. With a background spanning clinical mental health, higher education, behavioral health, crisis intervention, case management, and recovery support, Ruthie brings both depth of experience and a practical, compassionate perspective to her work with clients.

Ruthie has extensive clinical experience working with individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem and body image concerns, and co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges. Her experience includes assessment, crisis intervention, care coordination, case management, and providing therapeutic support to individuals with varying levels of clinical complexity. This breadth of experience allows her to consider the whole person, recognize when additional levels of support may be beneficial, and collaborate with clients in developing care that is responsive to their individual needs.

Ruthie earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. She is currently completing her dissertation in a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program. In addition to clinical practice, Ruthie is a college educator in Social Work and Human Services and has extensive experience working within higher education, where her work has included mental health support, crisis response, consultation, substance use education, and recovery-focused services.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) provides the foundation for Ruthie’s therapeutic work. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she incorporates additional evidence-based and strengths-focused interventions according to each client’s needs, experiences, and goals. Her work is collaborative and practical, with an emphasis on helping clients develop greater insight, strengthen coping skills, recognize their own strengths, and create changes that extend beyond the therapy room.

As a co-founder of Inner Grove Wellness, Ruthie shares a commitment to creating a practice grounded in healthy, supportive relationships, professional collaboration, and compassionate care. She believes people are more than the challenges that bring them to therapy and that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and the opportunity to grow.

Rooted in a collective compassion for you
